Templeton Middle School students presented
Templeton Middle School (TMS) students told board members about the recent Cereal Bowl fundraiser which collected donations for Sussex Outreach Services. More than 2200 boxes of cereal were collected. Students also spoke about the Adopt-a-Classroom project which collected items for 4K students at Rogers Street Academy in Milwaukee during the holiday season. Students shared their excitement about other highlights as well, including school assemblies and hydroponic farming units at TMS.
Maple Avenue Elementary in School Spotlight
Maple Avenue Elementary School Principal Katie Ritchie presented a spotlight video about positive student behavior. This is also called Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS.) Each grade level is in charge of teaching the rest of the school one of the Maple Avenue character traits.
Summer Opportunities recommendations approved
Mr. Cody Leland and Ms. Susan Schramka presented recommendations for the 2024 Summer Opportunities program. The biggest change is moving the location from Maple Avenue to Woodside for 4K-1st grade programming.
District boundaries request denied
Hamilton and Elmbrook school districts will not alter the boundaries of property located at N48 W20275 Lisbon Road, Brookfield. In 2022, the property was annexed from the Village of Menomonee Falls. Brookfield City limits were changed and enlarged to include the property. No students reside on the property. The property owner petitioned to alter school district boundaries by detaching property from the Hamilton School District and attaching it to the Elmbrook School District. A public hearing was held. The petition was denied.
Plan to Close Achievement and Improve State Report Card Scores approved
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Cathy Drago, Teaching and Learning Coordinator Whitney Roth, Assistant Superintendent of Special Services John Peterson and Special Services Coordinator Katie Foy presented information about the 2022-23 state report card. The Hamilton School District received an overall report card score of 80.8% which places the District in the Exceeds Expectations category. This places our district 16th of the 367 PK-12 Wisconsin districts for overall score.

The Hamilton School District received an academic achievement score of 86.2. Hamilton ranks 8th out of the 367 PK-12 school districts in Wisconsin. Hamilton’s score was the same or higher than 97.4% of districts in the state.
Growth scores
This shows the average amount of growth students are making as a direct result of our efforts. The Hamilton School District received a growth score of 70.8. Hamilton ranks 77th of the 367 PK-12 school districts in Wisconsin. Hamilton’s score was the same or higher than 78.2% of districts in the state.
Target group outcomes
This examines students with the lowest test scores and is designed to bring focus on learners who need the most support while improving outcomes for all students. This priority area score combines academic achievement, growth, absenteeism and attending or graduation rate. The Hamilton School District received a target group score of 64.1, which is the same or higher than 73.1% of districts in the state.
On-track to graduate
This shows how students are progressing to complete their K-12 education. Hamilton School District received an on-track to graduate score of 93.2, which is the same or better than 97.4% of districts in the state.
Action steps:
- Use curriculum cycles and coaching for Tier 1 instruction
- Use Professional Learning Communities (PLC) for Tier 1 and Tier 2
- Tighten Tier 3 and focus on Target Group

Personnel matters
School Board members approved the appointments of:
- Christina Bertram, Paraprofessional – Special Services at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective February 5;
- Austin Wilde, Grade 6 Replacement Teacher at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective February 12;
- Parker LaPerriere, Custodian I, pm part-time at Willow Springs Learning Center, effective February 15; and
- Mary Coleman, Associate Kitchen Employee at Lannon Elementary School, effective February 19.
School Board members approved the retirements of:
- Andrew Lohr‐Kougl, Chemistry Teacher at Hamilton High School, effective end of the school year; and
- Susan Moll, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent/Assistant Board Clerk for the Hamilton School District, effective July 5.
School Board members approved the resignations of:
- Mark Otto, Associate Principal/Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator at Hamilton High School, effective June 30; and
- Lauren Argall, Communication Arts Teacher at Hamilton High School, effective end of the school year.
