The Hamilton School District continues to monitor developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the U.S., including confirmed cases in Wisconsin. The health, safety and well-being of patrons, performers, staff, students and community are our top priorities, and we look to state and local health officials to guide decisions regarding public gatherings.
April 14, 2021 Update: Waukesha County has announced new guidelines for large group gatherings, allowing any size gathering provided that CDC guidelines are followed, focusing on social distancing, separation of groups, and mask-wearing rather than the total number of people gathered. The HFAC will continue to use a three-foot social distance standard whenever possible, allowing for a maximum of 300 people in the theatre, as well as continue to require face masks in our Hamilton School District buildings. We will continue to reevaluate guidelines and strategies as new information becomes available from the CDC and the Department of Health Services. Our goal is to stay safe to stay open, and the District’s face mask and social distancing requirements for students, staff and visitors are critical strategies toward achieving that goal.
Among the considerations we must take into account are:
- -The CDC’s new guidance about not needing to wear face masks indoors is intended only for those who have been fully vaccinated, and a majority of our students have not been vaccinated.
- -Some high schools are refusing to participate in athletic competitions at schools that don’t have a mask policy in place.
- -The county health department continues to recommend prevention policies including mask wearing. By adhering to their guidelines, we have been allowed to eliminate quarantining of asymptomatic students identified as close contacts because of a school exposure. If quarantining were required, close contacts risk not being able to attend school, including activities such as final exams, competitions and graduation.
State and county health departments have provided guidance regarding actions to take to mitigate spread of COVID-19, including how and when groups may congregate. Please carefully review our guidelines below:
