School Board keeps fees the same

Hamilton School District students and parents will see the same fees in 2004-05 as they did this year. School Board members voted 6-1 to keep user and participation fees the same. School Board Member Gerald Schmitz voted against keeping the fees the same because he said Hamilton fees were below average as compared to other school districts.

Youth Options Program courses approved

Requests from Melissa Akins, Gregory Behm, Nysse Bulkes, Matthew Dummer, Jaqualynne Herrmann, Michael McBride, David Monsen and Amber Salas to take courses at Waukesha County Technical College and the University of Wisconsin – Waukesha next year under the Youth Options Program were approved. The program offers juniors and seniors in good academic standing who have no disciplinary problems the opportunity to attend a college or university. The high school pays tuition for the classes.

NCA accreditation process approved

The School Board authorized participation in the North Central Accreditation (NCA) process at Templeton Middle School for a cost of $525 and at Hamilton for a cost of $675. The fees are $175 lower than last year. The accreditation process helps schools focus on school improvements related to student outcomes. It aligns with the district’s site planning process and responds to the public’s demand for greater accountability. Hamilton has been a part of the NCA accreditation process since 1966 and Templeton since 1997.

Personnel matter approved

In personnel matters, the School Board:

  • approved leaves of absence for the 2004-05 school year for Willow Spring Learning Center kindergarten teacher Jackie Beers and Marcy third grade teacher Sara Hackbarth; and
  • appointed Eric Murray as a Hamilton High School science teacher, effective in the 2004-05 school year; and Eric Jackson as a Templeton Middle School Special Services paraprofessional effective March 15.
