Hello Marcy Families,
In the wake of the tragedy that occurred on Thursday, we are taking this opportunity to revisit our pick-up procedures to ensure improved safety for our students. We have made some small changes detailed below so that students are no longer walking into the Marcy parking lot for pick-up locations. All students will enter vehicles from the sidewalk.
Parent Pick-Up Procedures
- If you arrive prior to student dismissal, please wait in one of the 7 lanes until a Marcy staff member directs you to pull forward to the cones on the sidewalk. You may no longer park along the sidewalk area or past the gym entrance in the parking circle if you arrive prior to dismissal. If you are parked there, you will be instructed to move and go to one of the car lanes.
- If you are picking up your child early, you may pull up to the front doors, but your car needs to be moved by 3:35pm. You are always welcome to park and walk up to the school to pick up your child.
- The first car in lane 1 will pull up to cone #1 and the following cars will pull up behind each car. (proceed in order of lanes, 1-7, then repeat back to 1)
- Students will come out of school at 3:45pm. Kindergarten and 1st grade will stand in 2 lines at the front door entrance. 2nd-4th grade will stand in lines at the gym entrance. This is not where you will get your child, but where they will be standing with Marcy staff members.
- Cone 1 will be at the gym entrance, cones 2-7 will be on the sidewalk going past the mailbox. All students will now be picked up off the sidewalk and no longer in the parking lot.
- When the student’s name is called they will proceed to the corresponding cone. Students should stand by the cone on the sidewalk.
- Please follow the car in front of you and stop behind that car. There shouldn’t be a large gap between you and the car in front or behind you. Your child will be standing at one of the cones near your car. If they are at a different cone than where you stop, Marcy staff will get them to the correct car. DO NOT stop if you see your child at a different cone.
- Students enter the car on the PASSENGER SIDE ONLY. Adults CANNOT get out of the car to help load their child. If your child needs help buckling, please park in a parking spot and walk up to get your child.
- Please DO NOT pass the car in front of you, unless directed by a Marcy staff member.
Parent Drop-off Procedure Reminder
If your student needs additional time exiting your vehicle, please pull up past the gym entrance area to get out of the way of the other drop-off cars so you can safely get your child out of the vehicle.
