Hamilton to unite for second annual Build Hope Walk to support suicide prevention

Hamilton High School (HHS) students and staff will come together for the second annual Build Hope Walk on October 21 during student lunch hours, reaffirming the school’s commitment to promoting mental health awareness, fostering connection and supporting suicide prevention.

“We unite to reduce stigma, foster hope and prevent suicide by supporting mental health,” shares Hamilton High School Counselor Kristin Hasbrook. “Our inaugural Build Hope Walk was held in the fall of 2025 and we were overwhelmed by the incredible participation of both students and staff. We look forward to continuing this important and powerful tradition to build hope for the future,” adds Hasbrook.

This event encourages students to walk in honor of those affected by suicide and reflects the school’s ongoing dedication to creating a safe, caring and connected school community. The Build Hope Walk will take place on the school’s track at Grove Field and also serves as a fundraiser for the National Alliance of Mental Illness – Waukesha. The inaugural Build Hope Walk in 2025, raised $2500 in donations for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

Families can show their support by encouraging students to participate in the walk and purchase a Build Hope t-shirt. Family members are welcome to purchase t-shirts, too. If a student chooses not to walk they may still support mental health awareness by wearing a Build Hope t-shirt.

Hamilton High School is grateful to the students, staff, families and community partners who continue to support this meaningful initiative and message of hope.
