Hamilton to host Build Hope Walk in support of suicide prevention

On Wednesday, October 15 Hamilton High School (HHS) will host its first-ever Build Hope Walk during student lunch hours to raise awareness and funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The walk will take place on the HHS track as a show of support for mental health awareness.

“This meaningful event is a powerful opportunity for our students and school community to come together and support a cause that touches so many lives,” says Hamilton High School Counselor Kristin Hasbrook. “We’re proud to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention, while promoting hope, connection and care.”

Families can show their support by encouraging students to participate in the walk and purchase a Build Hope t-shirt. Please register online to participate in the walk and/or purchase a t-shirt. All proceeds benefit AFSP. In addition, HHS students are encouraged to wear their Build Hope shirt or the color green to the Friday, October 17 Hamilton Chargers football game for the “green out” student section theme.

The event is organized by Hamilton’s Peer Leaders, the HHS Football Team and students in Ms. Draeger’s advisement class.

The school is seeking donations from local businesses, such as snacks, drinks or other small items to help support the event. For more information about the Build Hope Walk or details on how to donate, please reach out to Kristin Hasbrook at hasbkr@hamilton.k12.wi.us.
