The Wisconsin Scholastic Art Awards program, which features outstanding works by students in grades 7–12, is the regional section of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Program conducted by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. The program recognizes and encourages excellence in the visual arts across the state.
The works of the winning Hamilton artists were on view at the Milwaukee Art Museum and were selected from more than 1,700 entries in 17 categories. Winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
The Silver Key Award denotes statewide recognition; Gold Key Award-winning artworks continue on to the national competition, along with those from other regional art competitions throughout the country. Students whose works receive a Silver or Gold Medal at the national level will be honored at an awards ceremony in New York City at Carnegie Hall in June.
