Templeton students selected for UWM Honors Band

Six Templeton Middle School eighth grade band members participated Nov. 7, 8 and 9 in the 37th Annual Honors Band Festival at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). Students participating in the festival were:

Valerie Becker – tenor saxophone;
Lindsey Burleson – clarinet;
Leslie Crane – trumpet;
Chelsea Gustafson – flute;
Alexander Klett – trumpet; and
Kirsten Wiesneski – baritone horn.

Students were selected from approximately 700 nominations from across Wisconsin and Illinois. They participated in all-day rehearsals and instrument master classes on Nov. 7 and 8. The festival concluded the following day with a concert at the Zelazo Center on the UWM campus. Students in the festival were divided into three performance bands: the Wisconsin Band, directed by John Woger from Menomonee Falls; the Nebraska Band, directed by Lori P. Falcone, from Lincoln, Neb.; and the North Carolina Band, directed by Scott Tobias, from Boone, N.C.
