Templeton Middle School students presented

Templeton Middle School Student Council members provided an overview of many exciting things happening at school. They told board members about clubs, sports teams, the recent Matilda theater production and DECA’s annual Trick-or-Can collection. Next month, student council members will visit a Milwaukee school to hand-deliver items collected for their Adopt-a-Classroom Project. The annual project provides Milwaukee students with items, including new winter clothing, ahead of the holidays.

Silver Spring Intermediate School in spotlight

Silver Spring Intermediate Principal Deanna Wellens shared a School Spotlight Video about the book club that is currently being offered to staff and families. The group is reading the book “The Anxious Generation.”

Additional special education staff approved

Due to an increase in new student enrollments, additional special education staff is recommended at Willow Springs Learning Center for the 2024-25 school year.

Timeline established for 2025-26 budget

The School Board approved the district’s 2025-26 budget timeline that includes:

  • November 20 – Employee forum at 4 p.m. to solicit input prior to development of the budget in Hamilton High School library
  • January 31 – Administrators submit budgets
  • March 4 – Opportunity for the community to provide input on the budget at 6:15 p.m. at high school
  • April 14 – School Board reviews first budget draft
  • May 19 – School Board approves final draft of the budget
  • August 18 – Annual meeting where citizens approve tax levy

School Board Election Calendar released

The schedule for the 2025 spring election was released. Positions that will be filled during the April 1, 2025 Spring Election include:

  • One School Board Member to represent the At-Large seat 
  • One School Board Member to represent the Village of Sussex seat

Reports reviewed and approved

  • Revisions to Facility Rental Procedures and Fees
  • Section 504 Program Procedures Report
  • Reviewed and Revised Board Policies

Personnel matters

The School Board approved the appointments of:

  • Melissa Hefner, Educational Support – Literacy Interventionist at Marcy Elementary School, effective November 11
  • Amber Bintz, Educational Support – Special Services at Lannon Elementary School, effective November 13
  • Jessica Westrick, Educational Support – Literacy Interventionist at Maple Avenue Elementary School, effective November 14

The School Board approved the retirement of:

  • Arthur Anderson, School Psychologist at Hamilton High School, effective end of the 2024-25 school year

The School Board approved the resignations of:

  • Oldine Paulsen, Custodian I, PM at Templeton Middle School, effective January 3
