2024-25 calendar approved

  • Classes begin for students in grades 7-12 on September 3. Because of Great Start conferences, school begins September 5 for grades 5K-6 and September 9 for 4K.
  • Breaks will be December 23 – January 1 and March 24- 28.
  • The last day of school for 4K students will be June 10. The last day of school for all other students will be June 11, which will be a half day. Hamilton High School Graduation will be held June 13.

Silver Spring Intermediate School Students presented

Silver Spring Intermediate students shared a number of highlights from their school community. They provided totals from the recent Panther Showdown fundraiser and explained how last month’s Whole School Read helped students across all reading levels. Students also told Board members that 55 veterans participated in the November 10 Veterans Parade.

Lannon Elementary School in spotlight

Lannon Elementary School Principal Brian Balfany spoke to Board members about how monthly themes such as Cardinal Pride, Respect, Caring and Kindness are celebrated. He presented a School Spotlight video.

Co-Curricular Activities Report approved

Hamilton Athletic and Activities Director Michael Gosz presented the 2022-23 Co-Curricular Activities Report. During the 2022-23 school year, Hamilton High School sponsored 32 interscholastic sports (15 male and 17 female), 69 teams (36 male and 33 female) and 50 separate student activities. He noted that 92 coaches and 91 activity advisors lead these activities. Some 34% of the coaches and 91% of activity advisors are district faculty members. The report noted significant future school funding challenges and the need to continue providing students with high quality equipment and facilities.

Reports reviewed and approved

Several reports and documents were reviewed and approved including:

  • Designation of 2022-23 Fund Balance
  • 2024-25 Per-Pupil Budget Planning Assumptions and Allocations
  • Technologies Initiatives Status Report
  • New resource purchase for AP Psychology

Personnel matters

School Board members approved the appointments of:

  • Pawel Skrzypek, Custodian Night Foreman at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective December 11;
  • Oldine Paulsen, Custodian I, p.m. at Templeton Middle School, effective December 27;
  • Anita Neitman, Custodian I, p.m. at Maple Elementary School, effective December 18; and
  • Deena AL‐Wathiqui, Special Education Replacement Teacher at Hamilton High School, effective January 29.

School Board members approved the retirements of:

  • Jennifer Emory, Special Education Teacher at Marcy Elementary School, effective end of the 2023-24 school year;
  • Kaila Feudner, World Language Spanish Teacher at Hamilton High School, effective end of the 2023‐24 school year; and
  • Leanne Wied, Mathematics Teacher at Hamilton High School, effective end of the 2023‐24 school year. 

School Board members approved the resignations of:

  • Isabella LaSpisa, Paraprofessional Title I – Reading at Templeton Middle School, effective December 22;
  • Tanya Cobb, Paraprofessional – Special Services at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective January 10;
  • Pawel Skrzypek, Custodian I, p.m. at Templeton Middle School, effective December 8;
  • Michel Lee, Custodian I, p.m. at Hamilton High School, effective December 21; 
  • Shellee Kremer, Paraprofessional – Special Services at Lannon Elementary School, effective December 21; and
  • Jessica Kraft, Special Education Teacher at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective December 22.
