Board ratifies contract with ULE
The Hamilton School Board ratified a contract with United Lakewood Educators (ULE) that will increase base salaries by 2.07 percent for the 2013-14 school year. The board also approved a 2.07 percent increase in non-base supplemental compensation.
The tentative agreement was reached Feb. 6 between the district and ULE representatives. ULE members ratified the agreement last week. The increases do not apply to applied engineering teachers whose salaries were previously adjusted and teachers on replacement contracts or plans of assistance.
Administrators have scheduled four meetings this week to explain details of the contract to teaching staff.
In other personnel news, the board appointed Erin Monroe as a Marcy special services paraprofessional.
Maple Avenue presents site plan update
Like the other elementary schools in the district, Maple Avenue developed a building plan that aligns with the new district strategic tactical plan. The overarching elementary goal is that the percentage of students who meet or exceed their projected growth MAP targets in reading will increase by five percent.
Principal Kristin Koeper-Hamblin wrote in a report to the board that Maple Avenue’s two tactics indicate:
- Staff will implement Response to Intervention practices to address the differentiated learning needs of all students; and
- Students will increase their knowledge and use of academic vocabulary.
