Students honored for HFAC artwork selection
Hamilton High School students were recognized for having a piece of their artwork chosen for permanent display in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (HFAC). Artwork by Andrew Emrich, Maddie Gross and Ace Silloway was selected for the HFAC lobby. Hamilton High School Art Teacher Derek Malcore, Emrich and Gross spoke to board members the specific projects. Emrich and Gross were presented checks for the purchase of their artwork.
Hamilton High School 2026-27 Student Handbook approved
Hamilton High School Associate Principal Marquea Goike presented recommended changes to the student handbook. Yearly and language updates were recommended, along with details of the new start and end times for the school day. The HHS school day will begin at 7:30am and end at 2:45pm, except for Late Start Wednesdays when the school day begins at 8:10am. The length of passing time will increase from 6 minutes to 7 minutes. Information regarding student parking permits was also updated.
Additional special education staffing approved
Due to increased student needs, specifically students new to the district, additional special education staffing is recommended at Lannon and Maple Avenue Elementary Schools.
Reports, documents approved
Several reports and documents were approved, including:
- New curriculum documents for Band, grades 5 -12
- New curriculum documents for Choir, grades 7-12
- Curriculum resource purchase for Band, grades 7-10
- Academic Standards for 2026-27
- Reviewed and Revised Board Policies

Board members approved the appointments of:
- Allison Leair, Grade 2 Teacher at Lannon Elementary School, effective August 24
- Sara Schneider, School Counselor at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective August 24
- Anna Ross, Special Education Teacher at Maple Avenue Elementary School, effective August 24
