Silver Spring Intermediate School students presented
Members of the Silver Spring Intermediate (SSI) Best Buddies Junior Club presented. They told board members about how the goal of their club is to help students make new friends. They also shared information about recent field trips for SSI students and efforts to give back to the community, including a mittens drive, a granola bar drive and a $1000 donation to Sussex Outreach Services.
No space to take Open Enrollment students
School administrators calculated that the district will not have enough space to take additional Open Enrollment students for the 2026-27 school year due to class size guidelines, space constraints and space for special education open enrollment.
Open Enrollment is a statewide program that allows students to attend public schools outside their districts if space is available. District administrators monitor enrollment throughout the year and report back to the School Board closer to the start of school if there might be room for students from outside the district.
Co-Curricular Activities Report approved
Hamilton Athletic and Activities Director Jeff Newcomer presented the 2024-25 Co-Curricular Activities Report. During the 2024-25 school year, Hamilton High School (HHS) sponsored 34 interscholastic sports (16 male and 18 female), 71 teams (37 male and 34 female) and 50 separate student activities. The report notes that HHS had 108 WIAA coaches and 79 club/student organization coaches and advisors, including SAS coaches.
Total participation in athletics and activities was 1,213 students. Future recommendations include working with school and community groups to explore facility and program improvements.
Hamilton and Templeton course catalogs approved
