Hamilton School District compiled essential information for families anticipating the start of the 2024-25 school year. For more information, visit each school’s webpage on the district website at www.hamilton.k12.wi.us. September 3 is the first day of classes for middle and high school students. Elementary and intermediate students will begin on Sept. 5 and 4K students begin Sept. 9.
Registration — Families can log in to Infinite Campus July 29 – August 5 to verify and update information, pay school fees online and sign off on school forms. Families without an Infinite Campus parent portal should contact campushelp@hamilton.k12.wi.us.
Kindergarten — The district offers kindergarten programs for students who are four and five years old. The program for 4-year-olds (4K) is at Willow Springs Learning Center, and the program for 5-year-olds (5K) is at neighborhood elementary schools.
- To be eligible for the optional 4K program, a child must be four years old on or before Sept. 1. The program is a half day 8:50 – 11:30 a.m. morning session or 12:50 – 3:30 p.m. afternoon session.
- Each elementary school offers a full-day kindergarten program for children who turn five years old on or before Sept. 1. The 5K program follows the elementary school schedule.
Great Start Conferences — Great Start Conferences will be held for students in 4K – grade 6 to allow students, parents and teachers to meet face-to-face before students’ first day of school. Teachers gather information through a parent questionnaire and collect initial student literacy data. Willow Springs will conduct conferences Aug. 30, Sept. 3, 4 and 5 and elementary and intermediate schools on Aug. 30, Sept. 3 and 4.
School hours
- Hamilton High School, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 7:20 a.m. – 2:25 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:02 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.;
- Templeton Middle School, 7:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.;
- Silver Spring Intermediate School, 8:40 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.;
- elementary schools, 9:05 a.m. – 3:50 p.m.; and
- Willow Springs, morning and afternoon sessions, 8:50 – 11:30 a.m., 12:50 – 3:30 p.m.
Elementary students who are driven to school in private vehicles may arrive at school at 8:40 a.m. and will have an area to wait under staff supervision until they are able to go to their classrooms at 8:55 a.m. Silver Spring students will have a supervised area starting at 8:10 a.m. Willow Springs students should arrive at the school start times of 8:50 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.
Hamilton High School students arriving in private vehicles may come to school later on Wednesdays. The bus schedule, however, will be consistent throughout the week. Students will be able to enter the building at 7 a.m. every day with the ability to use the extra time on Wednesdays like a study hall.
Transportation — Bus route information will be posted in Infinite Campus in late August. Further communication will be sent out once routes are finalized and ready for viewing.
Breaks — Students will not have classes:
- Oct. 17 – teacher in-service;
- Oct. 18 – break;
- Nov. 8 – no school for grades 4K-6;
- Nov. 27-29 – Thanksgiving break;
- Dec. 2 – teacher in-service;
- Dec. 23-Jan. 1 – winter break;
- Jan. 20 – break;
- Jan. 27 – teacher in-service;
- Feb. 17 – teacher in-service;
- March 14 – no school for grades 4K-6;
- March 24-28 – spring break;
- April 18 – break;
- April 21 – teacher in-service; and
- May 26 – Memorial Day.
Last day of school — The last day of school for 5K-12 is a half day on June 11. The last day of school for 4K is June 10. Additional dates are included in the one-page district calendar.
Immunization — Wisconsin law requires parents to provide updated records on their child’s immunizations including polio, hepatitis B, MMR and varicella. Students entering grade 7 are also required to have one dose of Tdap. Please refer to the schedule for required immunizations. Students must be in compliance with the required immunizations as of the first day of school. Parents should make their child’s school aware of any recently received immunizations using the Wisconsin Immunization Record. Step 4 of this form includes a waiver section for families who waive any immunizations. Questions about the immunization schedule should be directed to the child’s physician or the Waukesha County Public Health Department.
Medication drop-off — The intermediate, middle and high schools have set specific dates and times when families may provide medications directly to health room paraprofessionals. Please refer to the schedule for medication drop-off. Families at Willow Springs and the elementary schools can drop off medications during Great Start Conferences.
School lunch program — Hamilton food service staff members are committed to producing quality meals that are nutritious and appealing to children. Lunch consists of five food items — protein, whole grain, fruit, vegetable and milk. To reduce waste, children are offered an entire lunch but are only required to take three items, one of which must be a fruit or vegetable. The price of lunch remains the same whether a child takes the entire lunch or refuses an item.
Lunch menus will be listed on the district website. Parents are asked to go over the lunch menu with their children to help them decide what to eat each day.
Lunch prices for 2024-25
- elementary students: $2.70;
- intermediate, middle and high school students: $3.05;
- bistro boxes: $2.70;
- adults: $4.00;
- milk: 40 cents; and
- breakfast, high school only: $1.50.
