
Thirty-two Hamilton High School students competed April 22-25 at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida.
DECA members compete in various categories involving tests, presentations and case studies. Case studies are designed to simulate real-life business scenarios and gauges students’ academic understanding and skills development. Top performers put their talents to test during final round competition at the international conference.
The following students earned awards:
- Rishi Kothinti – Retail Merchandising, received medal for role play, named finalist and earned second place in the event;
- Olivia George – Retail Merchandising, received medal for role play and named finalist;
- Rohit Washikar – Apparel and Accessories, received medal and named finalist;
- Aanya Ranasaria – Principles of Hospitality, received medal and named finalist;
- Elise Elkin – Hotel and Lodging Management, received medal for role play; and
- Sparsh Pandey – Buying and Merchandising, received medal for test.
“To have six medalists, four finalists and a second-place winner is beyond incredible. Hamilton’s last finalist was in 2019 and our last placement was 2017” stated Amanda Fields, DECA advisor and Hamilton business education and marketing teacher.
Hamilton DECA students were among 20,000 DECA conference attendees from more than six countries. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
