The first Showcase of Art was held in 2000 at Waukesha County Technical College. It was developed to showcase student and faculty work and expose the campus to the arts. The exhibit grew in popularity and participation when Waukesha County high schools and colleges joined in the show. In 2007, the Pewaukee Area Arts Council began coordinating the two-day event and made it into a biennial opportunity.
