Hamilton schools to observe Veterans Day

Hamilton School District students, staff and families will observe Veterans Day with a variety of activities.

Willow Springs Learning Center
Students and staff will honor veterans Nov. 10 during classroom assemblies. Children will watch a slideshow and sing songs about veterans. Students are invited to wear red, white and blue for the program.

Lannon Elementary School
Veterans are invited to attend a small walking parade of gratitude at Lannon Elementary School on Nov. 10. Sign-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Parade begins at 9:45 a.m. The walking parade will take place in school hallways and finish with an assembly. Family members are welcome to accompany veterans.

Marcy Elementary School
Veterans are invited to attend Marcy’s Veterans Day celebration Nov. 10. Coffee and donuts will be served at 9:00 a.m. A special assembly will begin at 9:30 a.m. If you would like to participate, please call the Marcy office.

Woodside Elementary School
Students and staff are creating a Woodside Honor Wall to honor veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces. First grade students will perform a Veterans Day Concert Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center. Food drive items to benefit the Sussex Area Food Pantry will be collected during the first grade performance.

Maple Avenue Elementary School
Veterans are invited to attend Maple Avenue’s Veterans Day music program Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. A patriotic display created by students and staff will be in the lobby. Light refreshments will be served after the program. If you would like to participate, please complete this form.

Silver Spring Intermediate School and Templeton Middle School
A drive-through parade will be held Nov. 10 from 1-1:45 p.m. to honor veterans. Veterans are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and include a sign with their name, branch and students they know. Family members assisting veterans with driving are welcome. If you would like to participate, please complete this form.

Hamilton High School
A commemorative passage that honors the brave service men and women will be read about the historical significance of Veterans Day. A moment of silence will be observed.
