Hamilton students earn awards at SkillsUSA state competition

Two Hamilton High School students earned medals April 5–6 at the SkillsUSA state conference in Madison. Jacob Winter earned two gold medals in cabinetmaking and woodworking display and Katie Scaffidi took a silver medal for advertising design. Winter will advance in June to national competition in Atlanta.

In addition, competing at state were Katie Richter in architectural drafting and Sydney Vande Hei in architectural drafting and woodworking display.

SkillsUSA is an organization for students interested in pursuing careers or expanding their knowledge in skilled trades. In its sixth year as a SkillsUSA chapter, Hamilton’s team is advised by applied engineering and technology teachers Alan Mamerow, Joe Premo, Tom Schlueter and Chad McLaughlin.
