Woodside kindergartners to receive Invader Crusader Award

Woodside Elementary School Teacher Peter Dargatz and his kindergarten class have been selected as a 2021 Invader Crusader Award winner.

The Wisconsin Invasive Species Council selected the Invader Crusader Award winners as part of Invasive Species Action Month in June. The council is advisory to the Department of Natural Resources, Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Legislature on invasive species issues.

These awards are presented to individuals or groups for outstanding voluntary or professional efforts in the battle against invasive species. The Invasive Species Council recognizes a small number of people every year based on their commitment to stopping the spread of invasive species through education of others, on-the-ground management and control or research. These efforts provide measurable benefits to the people, lands and waters of Wisconsin.

Dargatz and his kindergarten class will be recognized at a Wisconsin Invasive Species Council award ceremony in September.

Woodside Elementary School is located at W236 N7465 Woodside Rd. in Sussex.
