Woodside celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Woodside Elementary School students will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with several activities that occur Oct. 20-23. The week is a nationally recognized event that highlights the fight against drugs.

School counselor Pamela Bilodeau will discuss Red Ribbon Week and the importance of being drug free with classes throughout the week.

In connection with the Fitness Department’s Mileage Club, physical education teachers will be watching for students who show positive behavior. Students who are observed making smart choices will receive a plastic tag to be put on their shoelaces.

The Red Ribbon Week, with a theme of “Too Smart to Start,” will be celebrated at Woodside with the following daily themes and activities:

  • Monday, Oct. 20 – “Be RED-y to be drug free” – wear as much red as possible .
  • Tuesday, Oct. 21 – “Let’s be a Woodside team” – wear Woodside colors navy blue and silver or spirit wear.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22 – “Let’s be healthy” – bring a healthy snack and invite a friend to join the Fitness Department’s Mileage Club.
  • Thursday, Oct. 23 – “The future is bright being drug free” – wear neon colors, bright clothing or spirit wear.
