Woodside honors veterans with school assembly

Woodside Elementary School students and staff will recognize the contributions of the nation’s veterans Nov. 3 beginning at 9 a.m. with a music program in the gymnasium.

The program will feature:

  • first grade students marching to the stage playing instruments and waving flags;
  • Hamilton School Board member Jim Long guest-conducting the “Star-Spangled Banner”;
  • a flag ceremony by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts;
  • an “Armed Forces Medley,” in which veterans in the audience stand so students can applaud for them;
  • several patriotic songs by first grade students;
  • a fifth grade volunteer chorus; and
  • bagpiper Russ Read, father of a Woodside alumnus, performing the closing song to honor veterans who are no longer living.

Woodside Elementary School is located at W236 N7465 Woodside Rd., Sussex.
