Marcy student chosen for John Weaver award

Marcy Elementary School student Alexandra Stephens was presented with the John Weaver Do-The-Right Thing Award 2010. The award is given by the Menomonee Falls Optimist Club in recognition of students who through their actions show courage, bravery, kindness, volunteerism, charity, leadership, humanity, honesty, responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, compassion or looking beyond disabilities.

Marcy Principal Michele Trawicki nominated Stephens and described the fifth-grader as a strong student academically and leader in her class who has been a pivotal force in organizing charitable activities for the school and wider community.  For example, she helped coordinate a supply drive for soldiers stationed overseas, initiated car wash for the school and organized a writing club for Marcy fifth-graders to create a book called “Chicken Soup for the Soul of Marcy Students.”

“She is never short on excitement when it comes to organizing an activity to help others,” Trawicki said of Stephens.

Stephens was recognized at the Community Center in Menomonee Falls as a John Weaver Do-The-Right Thing Award winner. She received an award and $25.
