Hamilton DECA advances to international conference

Eight Hamilton DECA members competed March 9-11 at the Wisconsin DECA Career Development Conference in Lake Geneva. Supriya Talwar finished in second place overall in business services, Sarah Bregant finished in second place overall in food marketing, and Andrew Perego finished in fourth place overall in food marketing. These three students will compete again at the international conference in April.

The chapter also was recognized with Gold Level Certification for its school based enterprise, The Charger Corner school store. As a result, three members will compete at the School Based Enterprise Academy at the International Career Develop Conference. They are Robert Wiedenfeld, Daniel Waddell and Lauren Wirsbinski.

Hamilton’s DECA chapter also received the Diamond Membership Award, Gold Chapter Award, Acts of Kindness Award and Top 5 MDA Award. The chapter raised and contributed $3,200 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the second highest amount of any chapter in the state.

Also competing at state were Vy Nguyen and Brooke Ihlefeld. Nguyen will advance to the international conference as Hamilton’s Gold Chapter representative. Ihlefeld will attend the Leadership Development Academy offered at the conference.

The DECA International Career Development Conference will be April 24 – 28 in Louisville, Ky. Representatives from all 50 states and several Canadian provinces will compete in more than 50 different categories of marketing, management and entrepreneurship.
