Two Hamilton students chosen Brady Academic All-Stars

Hamilton High School seniors Anthony Anderson and Andrea Salus were selected 2009 Brady Academic All-Stars and were honored April 26 at Cardinal Stritch University.

Brady All-Stars are nominated by their individual schools and must have demonstrated academic excellence, participated in sports and other school activities and demonstrated a commitment to serving their fellow students and communities. The program originated in 1990 as a means of recognizing all-around student achievement at secondary schools in the greater Milwaukee area. In its history, the program has honored more than 2,000 students and awarded more than $600,000 in college scholarships. Two All-Stars, one male and one female, are chosen at each school.

Anthony Anderson has a cumulative grade point average of 3.85 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top 10 percent of his graduating class. He is a member of DECA and an Eagle Scout. In his community, Anderson volunteered for highway and park clean-up and is part of the annual Boy Scout Food Drive. In sports, he competed in track, basketball and football. He was awarded the Charger Pride Award in football and received honorable mention all-conference in his junior year. Anderson enjoys hunting and competing in archery. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His career interest is business. He is the son of Michelle and Kevin Anderson of Sussex.

Andrea Salus has a cumulative grade point average of 4.05 on a 4.0 scale and ranks sixth in her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Salus is Mini Council leader in Student Council, a School Board representative, Badger Girl State representative and a member of the Falls Sussex Youth Leadership Program. Through her church work-camp, she volunteers to tutor children with special needs. She is the section leader of her school marching band and is principal oboe in the Youth Wind Orchestra of Wisconsin. In sports, she competed in volleyball, basketball and track and was cross country captain in her senior year. She plans to attend Northwestern University. She is the daughter of Judith and Philip Salus of Menomonee Falls.
