The Get Connected Parent Network invites parents to hear from Mike McGowan who will speak on “Raising Children to Prevent Substance Abuse” March 18 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be at Lannon Elementary School, 7145 N. Lannon Road, Lannon. It is free and open to the public.
Once children begin to use chemicals, a variety of things happen to them — all of them bad. Emotionally, socially and academically, children’s development is delayed through alcohol and drug abuse. This talk addresses the No. 1 obstacle to children’s success and offers practical information and techniques to help parents help their children stay drug free. Parents are encouraged to bring their school-aged children to this presentation.
McGowan is president of McGowan & Associates, a training and consultation firm specializing in alcohol, drug, conflict resolution, workplace and family issues. He has spent the last 23 years working with families and children as an educator, youth care worker, family counselor, alcohol and drug counselor and trainer.
