Luedtke earns excellence award

Hamilton High School senior Samantha Luedtke was selected to receive the 2007 Award of Excellence Honor from the Women’s Sports Advocates of Wisconsin (WSAW). Luedtke was nominated by Hamilton Athletic Director Mike Gosz who described her as a leader.

“Sam is the type of student-athlete that every coach wishes for and the type who will lead her community in the future,” said her basketball coach, Dan Heckman. “Her work ethic is outstanding and she has a great desire to be successful and help others achieve their goals.”

Luedtke competes in volleyball, basketball and softball while maintaining a 3.71 grade point average. She was recognized with other female student-athletes at WSAW’s Annual Awards Banquet at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Milwaukee.

Every Wisconsin public and private high school is invited to select one student-athlete for the Award of Excellence. Recipients must meet the standard of 3.0 or higher grade point average and a varsity letter in at least one girls’ WIAA sport.

Founded in 1980, the WSAW is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing opportunities for girls and women who participate in sports. The organization sponsors statewide awards programs in honor of Wisconsin’s finest female athletes. The WSAW program is the only one of its type in Wisconsin, recognizing both public and private school-student athletes.
