Hamilton High School’s Academic Decathlon team will advance to the regional round of the Wisconsin Academic Decathlon after participating Nov. 8 in the local competition. Some 114 teams made up of more than 1,000 students from public and private schools across the state competed at the local level and 72 teams were selected to move on to the next round.
Each team consists of nine students in grades 9 through 12 and is made up of three Honor students with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75-4.00; three Scholastic students with a GPA of 3.00-3.74; and three Varsity students with a GPA of 2.99 and below.
Hamilton’s team is made up of Honor students Courtney Konyn, Elizabeth Doucette and Katherine Mess; Scholastic students Sara Willkomm, Melissa Gartmann and Adam Vanreenen; and Varsity students Dana Knoerr, Joseph Warner and Andrea Nelson.
The students will compete at the regional level on Jan. 13. The theme of this year’s Academic Decathlon is “The European Renaissance.”
