Templeton students selected for Honors Band

Four Templeton Middle School eighth grade band members participated Nov. 12, 13 and 14 in the 38th Annual Honors Band Festival at the University of Wisconsin (UW) – Milwaukee. Students participating in the festival were:

  • Darcie Adams – tenor saxophone;
  • Alexandra Koelbl – flute;
  • Ellen Kudronowicz – clarinet; and
  • Mark Slinde – trumpet.

Students were selected from approximately 700 nominations from across Wisconsin and Illinois. The students participated in all-day rehearsals and instrument master classes on Nov. 12 and 13. The festival concluded the following day with a concert at the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Students in the festival were divided into three performance bands: the Nebraska Honors Band, directed by Christopher Werner from the University of Nebraska; the Minnesota Honors Band, directed by Elizabeth Jackson-Kirchhoff from the University of Minnesota; and the Louisiana Honors Band, directed by Rudy Gilbert from Mandeville, La.
