Maple Avenue gets visit from Jessica Doyle

Wisconsin First Lady Jessica Doyle will visit Maple Avenue Elementary School Nov. 30 at 10:30 a.m. to present an award to fourth-grader Tristen Hayes. Hayes, a student in Rita Petchel’s class, was chosen as winner of last week’s online contest, “Where In Wisconsin Is Jessica Doyle?” During her visit Doyle will meet with all Maple Avenue fourth-graders to learn about the school and answer student questions.

“Where In Wisconsin Is Jessica Doyle?” is a weekly online game for students to follow the travels of Wisconsin’s first lady. All Maple Avenue fourth-graders participate weekly in the game. As the winner, Hayes and her family will receive passes to a Wisconsin family attraction.

The first lady and the Department of Tourism are working together to assist students in learning about travel opportunities throughout the state. Students go online to examine clues before answering each week’s question. After studying the clues, Hayes correctly identified Two Rivers as the birthplace of the ice cream sundae, home of the only Great Lakes octagonal skeletal lighthouse and the Rogers Street Fishing Village commercial fishing exhibit.

Maple Avenue Elementary School is located at W240 N6059 Maple Ave., Sussex.
