Hamilton High School announced today its decision to seek a new head coach for its varsity football program. Principal David Furrer said search for a new head coach for the 2004-05 season would begin immediately. The high school will look for a leader to develop components that include skill training, teamwork, cooperation, effective communication and a successful season.
“Extracurricular programs offer students the opportunity to belong to a team and develop leadership and cooperative skills that will serve them well throughout their lives,” Furrer said. “We believe the direction of the football program needs to give students an opportunity to find success while developing those skills.”
School officials concluded that the program established under head coach Fred Eimermann was not headed in the direction they desired. Eimermann took over the head coach position in 2002, after being a successful assistant coach for 21 years. This year’s season ended with a 2-7 record. Eimermann’s previous coaching experience also included eight years with the girls’ basketball program and 10 years with the boys’ baseball program.
