School Board members recognized

Winners of the April 2 School Board Election, Dawn Van Aacken, John Castillo, Brian Schneider and Stacy Riedel were officially sworn in.

Marcy Elementary School in Spotlight

Marcy Elementary School Principal Courtney DeArmond and Instructional Coach Charlotte Coe spoke to Board members about the focus on visibility of math throughout the building and at school events. They presented a School Spotlight Video about Math Hoops. Several students then taught board members how to play Math Hoops.

Student fees, lunch prices to remain the same

Student fees and lunch prices will remain the same for the 2024-25 school year. The School Board took the recommendation to keep prices at current levels. The District will also extend its contract with Kemps Dairy for the 2024-25 school year.

Board meeting calendar approved

School Board members approved their 2024-25 meeting schedule. Board meetings will be held on July 15, Aug.19, Sept. 16, Oct. 1, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Jan. 27, Feb. 17, March 4, March 17, April 14, May 6, May 19, June 3, June 23 and July 21.

Reports, documents approved

Several reports and documents were approved including:

  • Proposed WIAA By-Laws Revisions and Instructions to Delegate Report;
  • three-year contract with Froedtert to provide athletic training services to the district, which includes coverage of all sport and on-site training;
  • new curriculum documents for Humanities, grades K-2 and grade 5;
  • new curriculum documents for Social Studies, grades 7-12;
  • Hamilton High School Course and Materials Modifications for English Language Arts Course;
  • curriculum purchases for Math, grades 6-10;
  • curriculum purchases for Spanish, grades 8-12; and
  • draft agenda for August 19 Annual Meeting.

Personnel matters

Board members approved the appointments of:

  • Lisa Larsen, Paraprofessional – Special Services at Templeton Middle School, effective April 15;
  • Deborah Stone, Custodian I, p.m. at Hamilton High School, effective April 22;
  • Jill Lane, Associate Kitchen Employee at Lannon Elementary School, effective April 22; and
  • Megan Schulz, District Accountant & Registrar, effective April 22.

Board members approved the retirements of:

  • Ann Marie Pilo, Grade 3 Teacher at Marcy Elementary School, effective end of school year; and
  • Jenifer Maier-Ortlieb, Grade 6 Humanities Teacher at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective end of the school year.

Board members approved the resignations of:

  • Kristin Otto, Kindergarten Teacher at Maple Avenue Elementary School, effective end of school year;
  • Amanda Venti, Literacy Interventionist at Maple Avenue Elementary School, effective April 12;
  • Mary Coleman, Associate Kitchen Employee at Woodside Elementary School, effective April 4;
  • Samantha Purcell, Special Education Teacher at Silver Spring Intermediate School, effective end of the school year; and
  • Breeanna Benavides, Associate Kitchen Employee at Woodside Elementary School, effective end of the school year.
