Dear Maple Avenue Families,
We want to inform you that, due to enhanced safety precautions, school buses will consistently arrive at least 10 minutes later than their previous schedules. This adjustment ensures we prioritize the well-being of all students while maintaining a smooth and secure transportation process. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we implement these important measures.
Regarding parent pick-up, our goal remains to streamline the process while ensuring your child is ready to meet you as soon as your vehicle arrives. Starting Tuesday, January 7th, we will be introducing some updates to improve safety and efficiency:
- Expanded Use of Rainbow Cones: The cones will be spaced further apart, and we will position two families at each color cone to reduce congestion.
- Rainbow Cards: A staff member will walk along the driveway to inform you which cone your child will be waiting at. A colored tag will be shown to you to indicate which color cone you should drive to.
- Maximizing Space: To optimize the pick-up line, please pull your vehicle as far forward as possible.
- Student Cone: There will be cones placed along the sidewalk for kids to stay behind until the cars are not in motion. Students will watch a video today explaining how to use the new procedures.
- Merging Zones: There will be three designated areas for cars to exit and merge back into the traffic area. These will be marked with signs. (See map)
For families needing to assist with seat belts or buckling, we kindly ask that you allow your child to enter the car quickly and then proceed to the “Buckling Area” further ahead to complete the buckling process (see map). This will help keep the pick-up line flowing smoothly for everyone.
We truly appreciate your cooperation and commitment to ensuring a safe, efficient, and organized dismissal process for all our families. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Katie Ritchie
Principal
