Members of Hamilton High School’s Class of 2026 returned to the schools where their educational journeys began during the Graduation Walk on June 5. Graduating seniors visited their respective elementary schools, Silver Spring Intermediate School and Templeton Middle school dressed in caps and gowns. They were welcomed by hallways full of cheering students.

“This is an incredibly meaningful tradition for our entire district,” explains Hamilton High School Principal Dominic Bauer. “It is truly a full circle moment. Watching our graduates walk the same hallways where they once stood as young students is powerful. It reminds them of how much they’ve grown and gives younger students a glimpse of what’s possible for their own future.”
Principal Bauer is responsible for beginning the tradition at the end of the 2024-25 school year when students visited Lannon Elementary School, Maple Avenue Elementary School, Woodside Elementary School and Marcy Elementary School. This year the Graduation Walk tradition was expanded to include both Silver Spring Intermediate School and Templeton Middle School.
Many of the graduating seniors happily visited the playgrounds at their former schools to take photos and enjoy a moment of nostalgia.
At Silver Spring Intermediate School, students received individual printed cards featuring their sixth grade photos and handwritten messages from teachers they had during their time at the intermediate school.
“There’s something special about seeing former teachers reconnect with students they taught years ago,” shares Bauer. “You witness so much pride, gratitude and often a few tears. It is a celebration of relationships that help to shape these graduates into the young adults they are.”
