On October 15, Hamilton High School (HHS) held its inaugural Build Hope Walk during student lunch hours, bringing together students and staff in a powerful demonstration of solidarity and support for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

“This meaningful event was a powerful opportunity for our students and school community to come together and support a cause that touches so many lives,” said Hamilton High School Counselor Kristin Hasbrook. “We are incredibly proud of the compassion and commitment shown by our students.”
Organized by Hamilton’s Peer Leaders, the HHS Football Team and students from Ms. Draeger’s advisement class, the event took place on the school’s track and raised both awareness and funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The initiative encouraged students to walk in honor of those affected by suicide and to promote messages of hope, connection and care throughout the school community.

Participants wore Build Hope t-shirts, and proceeds from t-shirt sales will be donated to AFSP. Local businesses contributed snacks, drinks and other supportive items to help make the day a success.
To continue raising awareness, HHS students are encouraged to wear their Build Hope shirts or green attire to the October 17 “Green Out” football game at Grove Field, further emphasizing the school’s commitment to mental health advocacy.
