Join the Hamilton Drama Society for a night of two One Act plays November 7–9 at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center. Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. for the Sunday performance.
The first show of the night is the Drama Society’s Competitive One Act, A Game. Three people accept an invitation to take part in an experiment: a game in which a small room is divided into three equal areas, one for each person. At intervals they recite a slogan, “This is my land. It is mine. It is beautiful, and it is mine.” As the game progresses, we see the drive that makes each human want to possess more than their neighbors. A drive that causes hatred and starts wars. A Game begins as farce and ends in deadly earnest.
The second show, Paper or Plastic, is sure to make you laugh. For her first job, teenage Sarah thinks she’s easily qualified to check out customers at her local grocery store. At least it has to be better than serving up greasy fast food, right? But Sarah isn’t prepared for the chaos that ensues. All she wants is the answer to the simplest question in the world: paper or plastic?
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.hamiltonfineartscenter.com or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance.
