The Hamilton School Board has given its approval for an $84.2 million budget that will be presented to voters at the August 18 Annual Meeting. Residents are invited to learn more about the 2025-26 Hamilton School District budget during the Budget Hearing which begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center prior to the Annual Meeting.
The mill rate is projected to be $7.15 per $1,000 of equalized property value. That is 11 cents more than the 2024-25 rate. The increase in expenses is a result of enrollment growth, the operating referendum approved by voters in April of 2024 and an additional School Resource Officer for school safety which will be paid for using Fund 80 outside of the regular revenue limit levy. For each $100,000 of property owned, home owners will pay $715 to support the Hamilton School District.
The owner of a home valued at $400,000 should expect to pay $2,860 in school property taxes.
The budget is 4.08% more than the 2024-25 budget and assumes property values will increase 2.5% and state aid will increase 1.64%.
The levy voters will be asked to approve at the Annual Meeting is $42.4 million compared to $40.8 million in 2024-25.
Residents can learn more about the district budget August 18 beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Budget Hearing in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center, W220N6151 Town Line Road, Sussex. The Annual Meeting will immediately follow. Residents vote on the tax levy at the Annual Meeting.
