More than one-hundred eighth grade students from Templeton Middle School (TMS) in Sussex toured Husco manufacturing in Waukesha on April 30 and May 1 to see first hand how the skills they are acquiring in Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) class can eventually result in rewarding careers.

“It is incredibly meaningful for our students to see that what they do in the classroom everyday can easily transfer to real world manufacturing jobs,” explains Templeton Middle School Technology Education Teacher Shannon Flaherty.
Husco is a privately-owned company specializing in high-performance hydraulic and electro-mechanical components. This is the second year AET students from TMS toured the Husco facility and watched demonstrations in precision manufacturing. The tour was made possible by StemForward, which promotes STEM education and career awareness to all students through collaboration with business, education, government and the community.
Flaherty says his students were struck by the high level of precision in manufacturing.
