Community comes together to learn from local professionals and explore equipment

Hamilton High School hosted their inaugural Careers on Wheels event on May 14. Community members of all ages explored career paths that go beyond traditional office settings. The event also provided children with the opportunity to get an up-close look at a fire engine, ambulance, sheriff’s department vehicles, construction equipment and small farm animals.

“Thank you so very much to our amazing community partners who came out to share what they do with both high school students and younger children in our community,” says Hamilton High School Associate Principal/Extended Learning Coordinator Marquea Goike. “Learning how law enforcement operates a drone or seeing how large an excavator truly is can be an impactful experience for students of all ages. We look forward to this event continuing to grow in years to come.”

Hamilton School District would like to thank the following for their support:
Chuck’s Main Street Auto, Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, Village of Sussex, Sussex Fire Department, Bell Ambulance, Platinum Sky Farm, First Weber Realtor Sandi Blackwell, Lyons Electric, Dairyland Bus Company, IKM Building Solutions, TVJ Masonry, JP Cullen, Lannon Stone, Empower Electric, The Fatty Patty, Slo’ Motion BBQ, D&L Grading, TMJ4

Goike says her goal in creating the Careers on Wheels event was to bring the community together while showcasing exciting career paths beyond the traditional four-year college route. “Hamilton prides itself on every child, every opportunity for success. We really think about that when it comes to our Career in Technical Education courses,” says Goike.
