Templeton students connect with peers through team-building activities

Templeton Middle School (TMS) eighth grade students build connections and a sense of community through team-building activities. The afternoon of outdoor activities has become a celebrated tradition at TMS that helps students strengthen communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Templeton Middle School Math Teacher Alissa Hansen says it was neat to see new leaders emerge during the activities. “Students that don’t often take a leadership role in the classroom were able to shine during team building. These students organized their peers, called a rally to talk about strategies and gave positive feedback to the group,” adds Hansen.

Templeton staff members and parent volunteers facilitated the activities such as noodle walks, marble moving challenges and timed teamwork games.

“Over the course of three-hours, the students participated in team-building activities that helped strengthen their communication, collaboration and problem-solving,” explains Templeton Middle School Counselor Steven Gross.
