Hamilton voters approve both referendum questions on spring ballot

Voters in the Hamilton School District approved two referendum questions April 2 that will allow for $25 million of construction projects and fund $7.6 million of operational costs on a recurring basis.

Two questions were put out to voters. The Waukesha County Clerk’s Office has provided unofficial Spring Election results.

The following facilities were approved with 55.1% voters in favor and 44.9% opposed.

  • An addition to expand Hamilton High School cafeteria
  • Renovate Applied Engineering & Technology, science and art classrooms at high school
  • Renovate to expand Templeton Middle School cafeteria
  • Reconfigure bus and parent drop-off/pick-up areas at Marcy, Maple Avenue and Lannon Elementary Schools
  • Build an addition at Lannon Elementary School

Voters approved $7.6 million of operations costs on a recurring basis with 52.7% in favor and 47.3% opposed.

Superintendent Paul Mielke, Ph.D., said he was grateful to the community for its support. “I want to sincerely thank our community members. This vote speaks volumes about our shared commitment to education and our community’s future!”

“These results allow the district to maintain current operations, despite the state funding shortfall that is currently presenting challenges for so many Wisconsin school districts,” added Dr. Mielke. “This will also allow the district to accommodate enrollment growth that comes from being an outstanding school district in a great community. I believe community members recognize the incredible educational experience Hamilton School District students have access to. I am glad the taxpayers are willing to make an investment in our district so we are able to continue offering this high quality education,” he said.
