Winners Named in Optimist Club Essay Contest

Three Hamilton High School students won awards in the Optimist Club of Sussex, Lisbon, Lannon and Butler essay contest. This year’s topic was “Optimism: How It Connects Us.”

  • Senior Sriya Gannapureddy took first place and $150 prize
  • Junior Zen Nagao took second place and a $100 prize
  • Junior Nikita Stacey earned third place and a $50 award

Winners will also be presented a medallion for their success in the 700-800 word essay contest. Students will be recognized at the March 11 Optimist Club meeting held in the high school library.

Gannapureddy’s essay advances to the next competition level.

Optimist International is one of the world’s largest service club organizations with 80,000 adult and youth members in 2,500 clubs throughout the world. Its mission is “By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves.” Optimists conduct positive service projects that reach more than 6 million young people each year.
