Community invited to Hamilton Applied Engineering and Technology Showcase

Community members are invited to attend Hamilton High School’s Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) Student Showcase on Wednesday, January 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from high school, middle school and intermediate school students currently enrolled in AET courses, as well as view their technical drawings and completed classroom projects.

4 – 6 p.m. Hamilton High School

The showcase is open to the public and will immediately follow an advisory committee meeting that includes a number of local business representatives that have been working with Hamilton High School to build community connections and help students attain real life, transferable skills.

“When students know that future employers are coming to look at what they accomplished during the semester it motivates them to work harder in the classroom and gives them the opportunity to connect what they are learning and how it is similar to industry standards,” explains Hamilton High School Applied Engineering and Technology Teacher Chad McLaughlin.

Community support is what made the current Hamilton High School AET facilities possible. The successful 2018 referendum resulted in AET facilities created to foster innovation, hands-on learning and provide students with exceptional opportunities in the fields of engineering, construction, fabrication, graphic design and welding.

AET programs at Hamilton High School, Templeton Middle School and Silver Spring Intermediate School were all awarded 2022 “Program of the Year” by the Wisconsin Technology Education Association. All three school AET programs were recognized for providing students with rigorous training and skill development in the areas and concepts of technology and engineering. This distinguished honor was made possible through the support of the Hamilton School District community.
