Hamilton hosts Industries in Schools Tour connecting students with local professionals

Dozens of business leaders from local manufacturing and construction companies visit Hamilton High School to tour Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) classrooms and labs, connecting students with industry professionals and strengthening community relationships. Industries in Schools Tours are conducted in partnership with the Waukesha County Business Alliance.

“Industry partnerships are vital for our department so we can remain relevant and offer something back to our school community,” said Hamilton High School Graphic Arts Instructor Tom Schlueter. “We strive to create and maintain partnerships so we can help each other with common needs and most importantly, create a continued interest and opportunity for our students.”

“As an industrial label manufacturer, I was impressed with the graphics department and could see a connection between what the students are learning in the classroom and what we are doing on a daily basis,” said Tailored Label Products Human Resources Generalist Cory Nelson. “After the tour, I was able to connect with the graphics teacher and make a connection that could lead to better things for his students and our organization. I am excited to showcase our manufacturing environment with students who also could be our future employees.”

The Waukesha County Business Alliance prioritizes efforts to connect employers and talent. “We continue to double down on our efforts to connect school districts with in demand industries,” explains Waukesha Business Alliance Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Workforce Robyn Ludtke. “For over a decade, employers have been hosts of our Schools2Skills™ program, opening their doors to students to experience the trades. The Alliance is excited to build upon that program and recently launched Industries In Schools, which provides schools the opportunity to open their doors to the business community. “
