Hamilton drama presents “Romeo & Juliet”

Hamilton High School Drama Society presents its unique take on “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespare Nov. 11-13 at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (HFAC). Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. for the Sunday performance.

An age-old vendetta between two families erupts into bloodshed. A group of Montagues risks further conflict by crashing a Capulet party. A young lovesick Romeo Montague falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet, who is due to marry her father’s choice, the County Paris. With the help of Juliet’s nurse, arrangements are made for the couple to marry the next day, but Romeo’s attempt to halt a fight leads to the death of Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, for which Romeo is banished. In a desperate attempt to be reunited with Romeo, Juliet agrees to the Friar’s plot and fakes her own death. All this, set in a turn-of-the-century insane asylum!

Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.hamiltonfineartscenter.com or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance.

The Hamilton Fine Arts Center is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex.
