DECA recognizes Hamilton’s Charger Corner

Hamilton High School’s Charger Corner earned Gold certification this year and will be recognized at the DECA International Career Development Conference in April. Hamilton students involved in the rigorous process of attaining certification for the school-based enterprise (SBE) were Madelyn Gammon and Norah Miller with assistance from faculty advisor and business and marketing teacher Amanda Fields. Hamilton is one of 30 schools statewide achieving gold-level certification.

DECA developed the SBE Certification Program to help students demonstrate their classroom learning in a hands-on, realistic environment preparing them for the transition from school to work or college. The program provides enterprises with standards for model school store operation. A DECA review committee determines if a school store is certified with a bronze, silver or gold designation.

DECA is a career and technical student organization preparing its membership for careers in marketing, management, finance and hospitality. It has nearly 175,000 members nationwide. There are 101 students involved in Hamilton’s DECA Chapter.
