Charger Robotics Team Cyber Turtles competed against 24 teams to advance to the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Wisconsin State Championship. Team members include the following students from Silver Spring Intermediate and Templeton Middle schools: Disha Deepak, Elise Fuhr, Wade Gonzalez, Rowan Hunt, Aanya Ranasaria, Zara Sagna and Logan Wambach.
The team was awarded the prestigious First Place Champions Award at the qualifying tournament. The Championship Award is presented to the team that demonstrates superior knowledge in all aspects of FIRST including project, core values, robot programming and robot games. Cyber Turtles finished third place overall in the Robot Games. In addition, the team was nominated for the Global Innovation Award, Robot Design Award and Core Values Award.
FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. Cyber Turtles came up with a musical athletic shoe designed to reduce stress and anxiety among students. In addition to the problems, teams built, tested and programmed an autonomous robot to solve a set of missions.
The FLL Wisconsin State Championship will be held April 17. For more information about FLL, please visit
