Hamilton DECA earns 83 awards at district competition, qualifies 44 for state

A total of 67 Hamilton High School DECA members competed Jan. 4-15 in the Southeastern DECA Career Development Conference held virtually this year. Hamilton’s DECA group earned 83 awards, and 44 students qualified for state competition.

The following students earned recognition in their respective series and will advance to state competition:

  • Margaret Flynn, first place overall, exam and role play medals in restaurant and food service management;
  • Aayush Iyengar, first place overall, exam and role play medals in entrepreneurship;
  • Prathmesh Konda Gopinath, first place overall, exam and role play medals in business services;
  • Arushi Ranasaria, first place overall, exam and role play medals in accounting applications;
  • Jenna Riesterer, first place overall, exam and role play medals in retail merchandising;
  • Hiranmayi Swaminathan, first place overall, exam and role play medals in human resources management;
  • Jacob Pfeifer and Ethan Nolan, first place overall, exam and role play medals in financial services;
  • Colleen Flynn, first place overall and exam medal in quick serve restaurant management;
  • Dhruv Ahuja, second place overall, exam and role play medals in entrepreneurship;
  • Alayna Fry, second place overall, exam and role play medals in human resources management;
  • Raghav Pandya, second place overall, exam and role play medals in food marketing;
  • Hayden Pauls, second place overall, exam and role play medals in accounting applications;
  • Akhil Pidikiti, second place overall, exam and role play medals in principles of business management and administration;
  • Srikar Kalapala, second place overall and role play medal in principles of finance;
  • Nicolas Vera Paez, second place overall and exam medal in restaurant and food service management;
  • Joshua Dahlgren and Joshua Xue, second place overall and exam medal in travel and tourism;
  • Brooke Stanley, third place overall, exam and role play medals in entrepreneurship;
  • Audrey Davies, third place overall and exam medal in personal financial literacy;
  • Miguel Estrada, third place overall and exam medal in principles of finance;
  • Shashwat Shastri, third place overall and role play medal in food marketing;
  • Krishay Toomu and Rishi Kothinti, third place overall in entrepreneurship;
  • Rashmi Majjigapu, fourth place overall and role play medal in business services;
  • Ava DeCleene, fourth place overall in food marketing;
  • Maggie Olejnik and Grace Halcomb, fourth place overall and exam medal in travel and tourism;
  • Benjamin Landre and Josiah Dieman, fourth place overall in sports and entertainment marketing;
  • Maya Desai, exam medal in principles of hospitality and tourism;
  • Olivia George, exam medal in principles of marketing;
  • Brooke Price, role play medal in principles of finance;
  • Ryan Roubik, exam medal in human resources management;
  • Samantha Seilier, role play medal in principles of hospitality and tourism; and
  • Connor Wilcox, exam medal in marketing communications.

The following students also will advance to state competition by invitation based on high exam and overall scores, completion of projects and preparation efforts:

  • Carly Elkin in principles of marketing;
  • Elise Elkin in integrated marketing campaign project;
  • Madelyn Gammon in franchise business plan;
  • Sriya Gannapureddy in principles of marketing;
  • Matthew Maher in principles of business management and administration;
  • Norah Miller in franchise business plan;
  • Sean Roubik in principles of business management and administration; and
  • Tyler Verhaalen in principles of marketing.

Additional students who earned recognition at the conference are: Adit Bhootra, role play medal in principles of hospitality and tourism and Pranavesh Saravanan, exam medal in retail merchandising.

The State DECA Career Development Conference will be held virtually March 1-13.
