Hamilton DECA experiences success at state

Twenty-three Hamilton High School DECA members competed March 5-7 at the Wisconsin DECA Career Development Conference in Lake Geneva. Hamilton earned 40 awards and qualified 14 members to advance to the international conference.DECA team 2018 state

The following students were recognized and will represent Hamilton at the DECA International Career Conference April 21-25 in Atlanta:

  • Andrew Tai, first place overall and one medal for economics excellence, seventh place overall and three medals for travel and tourism and one medal for School-Based Enterprise;
  • Shiva Senthil, first place overall and four medals for entrepreneurship and one medal for economic excellence exam;
  • Tyler Vandermolen, seventh place overall and three medals for travel and tourism and one medal for School-Based Enterprise;
  • Arushi Ranasaria, third place overall and two medals for principles of hospitality and tourism;
  • Brian Wiedenfeld, fourth place overall and three medals for quick serve restaurant;
  • Maanya Kashyap, fifth place overall and three medals for marketing communications;
  • Jason Gahr, sixth place overall and three medals for principles of marketing;
  • Maxwell Unger, two medals for business services marketing and
  • John Weber, two medals for sports and event marketing.

The following students have been invited to compete at the international conference based on high test and overall scores:

  • Rashmi Majjigapu, Haley Pifher and Sophia Detweiler, School-Based Enterprise and
  • Rushil Patel and Benjamin Cady, hospitality team decision making.

Additional students who medaled include:

  • Carolyn Troutman, one medal for apparel and accessories;
  • Kai Warden, one medal for principles of marketing and
  • Sophia Detweiler, one medal for restaurant and food service.

Business education teacher and DECA advisor Amanda Fields will accompany qualifying students and Charger Corner managers to the international conference.
