Hamilton takes first place at forensics invitational

Hamilton High School’s forensics team earned first place in its division Jan. 13 at the Pirate Invitational hosted at Port Washington High School. It is the first time in team history its won a tournament two consecutive years in the large school division.

The team award was determined by evaluating the average rank performance of individual team members. The following students were tournament champions and medal winners:

  • Rashelle Pershman, tournament champion, Varsity Prose;
  • Chloe Miller, tournament champion, Novice Prose;
  • Amanjot Yadev, tournament champion, Informative Speaking;
  • Krystal Fedie, Nicole Hentzell and Manola Inthavong, tournament champion, Group Interpretive;
  • Madison Ruplinger, second place, Informative Speaking;
  • Emma Stokman, second place, Impromptu Speaking;
  • Matthew Gnanadass, second place, Extemporaneous Speaking;
  • Abhijeet Puri, second place, Radio;
  • Molly Coady, third place, Informative Speaking;
  • Manola Inthavong, third place, Poetry; and
  • Mehak Oberoi and Swathi Prasad, third place, Play Acting.

Focusing on developing students’ public speaking and communication skills, the high school forensics team helps students build confidence and community through extra-curricular competition.
