Junior Danielle Kallis won the state championship title in Special Occasion Speaking helping Hamilton High School’s forensics team earn 12th place in its division April 11 at the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches’ Association (WFCA) state meet at Ripon College.

More than 850 students from 68 schools throughout the state competed in various speech and drama categories. The team award was determined by evaluating the average rank performance of individual team members.

The following students were category winners:

  • Rachel Betters, sixth place in Radio;
  • Kavya Ayalasomayajula, finalist in Storytelling;
  • Samantha Moore and McKenzie Fowler, finalists in Play Acting; and
  • Erin Magoon, finalist in Four-Minute Informative.

Focusing on developing students’ public speaking and communication skills, the Hamilton forensics team helps students build confidence and community through extra-curricular competition.
